I just can't see a non-purpose built (for architecture) game engine competing from a time invested standpoint. It updates model changes like autocad updates an xref. Or you can reassign them with lumion or custom textures. It direct exports from revit as a collada file using the lumion plugin which preserves your revit textures. Want the silhouette people typically used in architectural renderings for scale? Yup it's got those too. Its got that (and the leaves blow in the wind).

The assets preloaded into the program are designed for architects. It almost cuts Photoshop entirely out of the workflow for stills. I agree that it needs to be fast and integrate into workflow, but Unreal doesn't need to replace Revit entirely, it can sit on top as a far superior visualization engine to Autodesk's cobbled together crap.Ĭlick to expand.We just use Lumion for quick visualizations. It's a pretty incredible tool for anyone working on a Revit model who ever needs to visualize something (i.e. You can walk around your model and see what it looks like in 3D with live updating. We also have been dabbling with Enscape which is a Revit plugin that provides a real time render in a separate window.

As far as I can tell it basically exports a Revit model to FBX and then imports that as a Unity asset into it's viewer software which is built using the Unity engine, but could just as easily have been built with Unreal. It's fantastic for model review and helping clients visualize spaces. It's a Revit plugin and standalone application that exports a Revit model to the Revizto viewer app where you can then walk through your model, take measurements, cut sections, even tag things and send people notification to fix something (and also supports the Rift). We already use Unity engine indirectly in our office through Revizto. I think you're underestimating what's capable with something like this.
